Oh the shame...

Yesterday was The East Kilbride Cattle Show which seems to be a major event in EK... I dragged Daniel to see what the fuss was about but also because a fellow dog walker had told me there was a dog show there as well and anyone could enter.

However, I had booked Yu You to see the vet in the morning because she is still scratching herself so hard she makes her lips bleed! Anyway, the vet gave me some steriod cream for her (i have to wear disposible gloves to put it on her!) and then gave her her yearly booster shot. She was most displeased and dragged her tail all the way home. I even had to carry her some of the way as she looked so glum and was walking so slowly. As she seemed so down I decided not to give her a bath and took her to the Cattle show as she was. I wasn't going to bother enterring her as she hadn't had a bath but we met a neighbour of Daniel's mum's and she had two little shiz shu's enterred which i thought were just not in the same league of cuteness as Yu You - bath or no bath - so I put her name down. It cost 50p which Daniel had to pay as I had no money ;-)

As you can guess from the title we didn't exactly win... she refused to let the judge look at her teeth and then I made the mistake of walking her on my right rather than my left as I usually do. Doh! As a result she was right next to all the audience dogs and kept shying away and not walking like the pedigree, daughter of prize winning father, that she is.

She came 5th...out of 5! The shame of it all. For those that want to know, the shiz shu's came 3rd and 4th. A lovely little poodle came first but she had a "showbiz mom" who made her trot up and down and put her feet in the right position.

'No return on investment' Daniel keeps saying.

There were lots of different breeds of dogs there but alas, as expected, only one Coton. I felt a bit bad for her that there was no other little doggie like her but then, there was also only one Afghan so I guess that's just the way it is.

Must go practise for next year...
