New Arrival
So the agreement was that if I got a puppy, Daniel would get a kitten and we’d bring them up together. The kitten arrived on Saturday. Boomer is a female Siamese crossed Bengal. More Siamese than Bengal but she still has lovely markings.
When we went to the cattery to choose a kitten it was the first time I’d seen a real life Siamese cat but they are so thin and lithe! The pure Siamese that was there was definitely a feline supermodel! It carefully surveyed the floor before moving a paw and walked in a very careful and precise manner, placing each paw just so. I am not sure if Boomer has inherited this yet as she runs everywhere! Last night she decided that 9:30pm was a great time to do laps behind my sofa. Just when I was trying to get Yu You to settle down and sleep all we could hear was “tat tat tat tat tat tat”, scuffle (this is her turning), “tat tat tat tat tat tat”! Eventually Yu You ended up getting worked up and energetic again! Sigh!!
On Saturday night, Boomer was scared of everyone! She would hide and shake. Poor thing. She was a bit better on Sunday having spent the day mainly with only Daniel. Monday during the day we thought it might be easier to keep her and Yu You apart while I was working so she had to stay in Daniel’s office. But that night – laps, climbing up sofas, knocking down ornaments, chewing on cables and trying to run out of kitchen door after Yu You! I don’t think she’s shy at all! She was just having us on!
Yu You seems to regard her as a new toy to play with her and chases her around the room only when she isn’t distracted by other toys or food. Boomer seems to like watching Yu You and peeks out at her when she isn’t looking! I think one day Yu You is going to have a scratched nose which worries me but I guess it’s needed if she’s going to learn that hissing is not a good sign!
The thing about Boomer that makes me laugh is when she wakes up she has to stretch for about 5 minutes. Not normal, arch back and shake stretches but real Olympic athlete stretches! One leg at a time and sometimes using me as a base to hold onto (with claws!) while she stretches each hind leg!! I may need to invest in thicker jeans!
